Surviving ISTE 2016

If there’s anything that educators all over the world look forward to each year, it’s the International Society for Technology in Education (ISTE) Conference and Expo. This year, the premier education technology conference will be held at the Colorado Convention Center from June 25 to 29. Around 500 companies will be participating, with an estimated 16,000 participants attending around 1,000 sessions.

Registration and Pre-Conference Workshops

Onsite registration will open on June 25 from 7 am until 6 pm. There will be pre-conference workshops and invitational activities from June 25 to 26 from 8:30 am until 3:30 pm. The full conference events will be held from June 26 to 29.

Some of the exciting workshops that attendees can take part of include Build an Open Badge Ecosystem, Computational Thinking for Every Subject, Crafting the Next Generation Classroom: An Immersive Experience with Nearpod, Designing Your Online Course, Discover the Incredible Power of Google Forms, Dive Deep into Personalized Learning, iPad for Early Learners: Create and Collaborate, and Technology Grants: Write It, Sell It, Get It.

There will also be workshops to be conducted by the ISTE Learning Academy. On June 25, it will be the InnEdCo Google Education workshop from 8:30 am to 4 pm. On June 26, they will hold the iTools for Educators workshop from 8:30 am to 4 pm as well. You can check the full schedule of the pre-conference workshops and activities here.

Full Conference Events

The conference will open on Sunday, June 26, with events from 12:30 pm until 8:45 pm. Some of the exciting activities include interactive playgrounds, conference sessions, networking and connecting activities, and an opening keynote, just to name a few.

June 27 and 28 will be packed with activities starting from 7 am until 7:30 pm. There will be more interactive playgrounds, workshops, and concurrent sessions.

On June 29, the last day of the ISTE 2016, workshops and sessions will start at 7:30 am and end with a closing keynote and a preview of the ISTE 2017. It’s all going to be very, very exciting!

Other Reminders

Wi-Fi will be provided in the convention centre and other public spaces, except for the expo floor hall. There will also be a Continental Breakfast served on Monday and Tuesday, June 27 and 28, from 9:45 am to 10:15 am.

There will be non-fee and fee pre-registration events. You are required to register before the start of the session, or pay additional fees for some other meetings and forums. Sold seats that are not occupied within 15 minutes will be released after the session starts.
