Programs like Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) and 1:1 classroom ratio have proven to be more engaging and effective for the learning process of students in most schools. For this reason, textbooks are slowly becoming obsolete and are being replaced by eBooks.
The Benefits of eBooks
While there are still many schools that rely on textbooks, it is undeniable that eBooks are relatively useful, in many ways, to students. Here are some of eBooks’ numerous benefits, which make them the best tools in the learning process.
eBooks are Cheaper
eBooks cost less than regular textbooks. Aside from that, they are easily updated since they are in digitized versions. They can be easily accessed anytime and anywhere as long as you have your iPad or tablet with you.
eBooks are Easy to Purchase
You only have to go online, and, with a few clicks, you can already have access to the eBooks. You don’t have to drive somewhere, fall in line, and wait. You don’t have to wait for it to be shipped to you because it is instantly available. All you need is an internet connection.
eBooks are also Capable with Text-To-Speech (TTS)
This means that students can listen to the book and learn while attending to other tasks. They learn how to multitask while the learning experience is enhanced.
eBooks are Portable
While textbooks need to be carried, eBooks are stored in digital devices, which do not weigh much. You can travel with the lightweight digital device, allowing you access to eBooks wherever you go. Because they are portable, you can pretty much carry a number of books with you without the extra weight.
eBooks Stand the Test of Time
Unlike textbooks, they do not grow old. They can stay in your digital device for a lifetime as long as your device is safe from any viruses.
eBooks Make Searching Easy
If you need to find any topic, you don’t have to turn from one page to another as you would in a textbook. eBooks have the search button so you can just easily enter the topic you’re searching for and you’ll find it in seconds.
eBooks Take Up Less Space
Because textbooks are big, you are limited to the number of textbooks you can carry with you. On the other hand, eBooks only use a small space in your digital device so you can have hundreds of eBooks or pretty much a library with you everywhere you go.
eBooks Make Learning Experience Better
Students can learn from both textbooks and eBooks, but using eBooks speed up and simplify the learning experience, resulting in more time for exploration and learning. Since eBooks are more interactive, students are more engaged and motivated to do own their learning. This can mean students are more equipped with the skills they need to possess, so they will be successful not only in the classroom but in the real world as well.
