If you have the time, why not check out some of the top tourist destinations in Philly too? Work hard, play hard!
A city with a character of its own, Philadelphia is home to some of the rarest uniquely-preserved historical destinations and inspiring locations in the United States. Discover new flavors, new sights, and a completely new world in Philadelphia. Whether you are a curious tourist or a wandering traveller, Philadelphia is sure to amaze you with its beautiful cobblestone streets, historical mansions, and museums. Lace up your shoes, ready your selfie stick, and start your Philadelphia adventure with the following attractions:
The Reading Terminal Market
It emerged in the 21st century as one of the largest public markets in the US. Some of Philadelphia’s finest local restaurants come to this market for farm-fresh meat and vegetables, seafood, and specialty ingredients. You can enjoy every type of cuisine, from Asian and Middle Eastern dishes and authentic Philly cheesesteaks to the exquisite Pennsylvania Dutch fare.
Independence National Historical Park (INHP)
Independence National Historical Park is considered the country’s most historic square mile. It houses famous sites such as Congress Hall, the Liberty Bell, and Independence Hall, which witnessed some of America’s most important historical moments and seminal events. To the north of Independence Hall is the park-like Independence Mall, while on the east side stands the National Museum of American Jewish History.
Philadelphia Museum of Art
As one of the largest museums in the US, this place is perfect for art lovers and old souls. Notable masterpieces of Van Gogh, Degas, Monet, Rodin, and many other famous artists will welcome tourists as they roam around the immense galleries of Philadelphia Museum of Art. If you aren’t an art history buff, they have a great gift shop for all of your fridge magnet needs.
Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to the place that gave birth to the country’s declaration of independence and constitution. Independence Hall saw how 56 courageous men gathered at the Pennsylvania State House, defied the King of England, and fought for total democracy. A unified nation was created completely after 12 state representatives gathered to shape the US Constitution eleven years later.
The Liberty Bell Centre
This historical attraction is a symbol of freedom to the American nation. In the vast interior of the Centre, large documents and graphic images are displayed to mirror the stories and the myths surrounding the Liberty Bell. If bells are your thing, this destination stopover is a must.
The Philadelphia Zoo
The zoo is built on a lovely 42-acre Victorian garden. Get a taste of paradise in its tree-lined walkways, charming shrubbery, animal sculptures, and ornate iron cages. It is one of the country’s most friendly and animal-packed zoos. Enjoy your visit with the tigers, chimpanzees, parakeets, orang-utans, gibbons, lemurs, and other animals in the zoo.
Longwood Gardens
This is one of the country’s premier horticultural gardens. Take delight in its plants and flowers that exude vibrant colours and sweet fragrances. The four-acre conservatory houses thousands of spectacular orchids in artistic arrangements, such as flower baskets, a waterfall display, and an orchid meadow. Rare sky blue poppies also bloom every year in the month of March.
